Reading Handy Helper
Does your child encounter words that can’t be sounded out YET? Use the Reading Handy Helper to teach your child common sounds in early reader children’s books.
The Reading Handy Helper is not meant to be exhaustive and does not include all the possible sounds for the letter combinations, so don’t be afraid if your child encounters a word that doesn’t fit with the chart. If the chart is used anyway, and the context is being considered a child can usually figure out the new word. You are there to help!
I have used the Reading Handy Helper for my children so I don’t have to tell them a word when they read. It has helped us. I hope it helps you too!
I recommend that you print it off on card stock in color. Then, laminate or put in a sheet protector. Keep it handy for when your child is reading.
